Get into the Groove of the Return of Physical Media
Everyone knows that for the past 20 years, the world has been controlled by big companies and bad people, especially the music industry. Like big music streaming companies Spotify, YouTube Music, and Apple Music. Over the years, people have started to resent having to pay to listen to music without having to deal with ads, and with songs being able to just disappear because the streaming service chooses to make it disappear. People are starting to want to own their own music and are going back in time and turning to classic Mp3 players, CDs and even as far back as old school cassette players and vinyl records.
The newer generations especially are bringing back physical media because they want something for their own nostalgia and a way to stick it to the big companies that control everything. People are turning back to a different era of media where they actually own the music they listen to; where a song they love can’t just disappear because a streaming service stops paying for the license. As well as people returning to the world of CDs and Mp3 players, DVDs are also making a comeback because people do not want to pay ridiculous prices to watch a movie that the streaming service may just remove whenever they want, as well as some people not wanting to rely on having internet access just to watch movies or listen to the music that they like, one high school sophomore said, “I really enjoy collecting CDs. I love being able to see the art on the cover and the journey it takes to find the albums I love!” Collecting CDs actually leads to a more personal experience with those who know them. It demonstrates the music taste of the person and tells a lot more about them than just some Spotify playlist does because they actually have to go outside and search for the CDs of the albums they want-which also means people will interact with the outside world more than just lying in their room being on their phones.
The return of CDs will also possibly mark the return of CD shops, and maybe even stores like Blockbusters might someday make a return as people start to slowly return back to a time where you could own or rent a movie for cheap. You could enjoy it whenever you wanted instead of having to pay for a streaming service that doesn’t even have the movies you want. If those places do return, people will have to leave their houses and interact with real people again and they would be able to meet new people that have the same music or movie taste that they do, and they could make new friends in the real world instead of just having people that they meet online. In a way, it would make it safer for people to make friends, because it would be real people that they would meet in person instead of strangers online that could intend to harm them.
Overall, the return of physical media has a lot of pros and no cons, it will lead to people going outside and meeting people with similar interests to them in person as they search for the albums and CDs they like together, and will have a new found sense of kinsmanship with those they meet while hunting for their favorite things.
