The Talon

Lillee Martin is the Senior Editor of The Talon: Flagstaff High School’s newspaper. Lillee is an aspiring screen writer and film director currently devoting her mind to developing the screenplay of a potential debut feature film. Beyond this, she loves music, dance, fashion, philosophy, art history, anthropology, reading, crafting, and watching movies. Lillee values the strength of compassion, determination, activism, and creativity within the art field. She is compassionate about uplifting artistic perspective and expressions within the existing saturation of popular media. In doing so, she also works as a staff writer and visual designer for an online literary magazine by the name of Chateau—set to release its inaugural issue within the coming weeks. As a current senior at FHS, Lillee is looking forward to graduation and continuing to pursue her dream beyond the bounds of Flagstaff.

Haven Carey is a Junior at Flagstaff High School and the Junior Editor for The Talon. She has always been incredibly fond of reading, which has in turn made her very fond of writing. She loves good music and good books and has acquired a large collection of physical media including records, CDs, and paperbacks, all of which are her prized possessions. She derives most delight from hiking, thrifting, adventuring, making jewelry, and baking.

I am currently a sophomore at Flagstaff High School, and I am originally from a small town in northern Idaho that borders Washington by the winding Snake River. While I enjoy writing, I plan on pursuing a career in the medical field. I’m interested in topics about the ocean, music, and current issues.

Lauren Badger is a Senior and columnist for Flagstaff High School’s newspaper, The Talon, as well as Vice President of the SkillsUSA Film & Television Production club. Outside of school, Lauren volunteers to help local bookstore Bright Side run two book clubs for kids and teens, leading discussions on books monthly with both groups. She enjoys spending her time outdoors, hanging out with friends, playing video games, and reading. Lauren plans to continue her studies in both Film and Environmental Studies in college, as she is passionate about expressing artistic creativity whilst actively making positive changes in the world and helping the environment.

Sam Kelly is a senior at Flagstaff High School who is currently writing for The Talon. Learning how to balance between her school life and her work schedule has been something she has prioritized over her high school career. Despite her daily schedule being quite packed, she makes time to apply herself in creative ways. Sam is passionate about creating art and consuming it, also while spending most of her free time creating artwork and reading. She is planning on attending NAU in the fall semester and working towards a degree in History.

Sienna Chitwood is a sophomore at Flagstaff High School. She loves the summer and hanging out in Sedona. She has lived her entire life in Flagstaff. She is planning to get a degree in Criminal Justice, and then eventually become a dog handler for the FBI. She plans on moving out of Flagstaff and going to a bigger city. She loves to learn about astronomy, and sea life. She enjoys listening to mainly rap music.

Hey my name is Ash, I’m a sophomore at Flagstaff High, I originally joined journalism because we don’t have a creative writing class, but I actually have really enjoyed doing journalism and writing for the paper. I have really enjoyed how cool the other writers are and how much creativity that they have. I have been writing for a long time, I really enjoy making stories and journaling so journalism was actually a really good fit for me. I’ve lived in Flagstaff my whole life; I would really love to travel and explore more places outside of Arizona. I would love to visit London England, Salem Massachusetts, Astoria Oregon, Sleepy Hollow New York, and other places. I also really enjoy drinking tea and baking, I have far too many hobbies. I have a lot of strong opinions and I really enjoy getting the truth out there through my articles.

My name is Kaitlyn, and I like to be creative. Most of my art consists of animations that I make, and although I mostly do it for fun, I sometimes sell them for a commission! I have a pet tarantula and a cat that I dedicate my school career to. My dream is to achieve Nirvana and go to Mars one day.

Hi, my name is Paige. I’m a junior here at Flag High School. I like music, art, and writing. I spend most of my time listening to music, drawing, and spending time with my dogs, Cooper and Koda. I enjoy horror and mystery stories and movies. Music and creativity help keep me motivated throughout the day.

Hello! I am Auddie Lentine, and I am a senior at Flagstaff High School. I’ve been at this school since freshman year, but I moved all the way from the south. I’m talking about Mississippi where I moved to around four years old after being born in Phoenix. I have a cat named Pringles, and three dogs. I live with my mother, and we both absolutely love reading and writing articles. So, I took this Journalism class, and I love the work we do here.

Hey, I'm Piper Robb, and I am a sophomore at Flagstaff High School, I recently moved here from North Carolina, and when I’m not at school, I spend a lot of time volunteering, doing sports and spending time with my friends. Some of my strongest values are community and connection as well as spreading kindness and I love spending time outside. One of my future goals in life are to become a registered nurse.

Hi! My name is Santiago Romero! At Flag High, I have participated in acting, guitar class, and now even journalism. I am very interested in writing, reading, and storytelling. I am fascinated by the ability to make things from my imagination into something special. I hope that by trying different things, I can show that it is okay to not focus on one talent at a time, I will always try to do things that I have an interest in, as that is what truly matters to making a life for myself.

Caylee Barnett is a sophomore student who found her passion in journalism, this is her second year at Flagstaff Highschool. Her hobbies include; writing, photography and art. She loves listening to music, her favorite genres being rock, R&B, and alt pop.

Hello! My name is Sabe Hernandez Rodriguez, I am a Senior here at Flagstaff High School. My hobbies include Color Guard, Drawing digitally and traditionally, Painting, Writing poems and stories, crochet, and singing. I am Mexican American and am fluent in Spanish. I’ve lived in Arizona my whole life but plan to move to Toronto, Canada for university to study Animation and to explore the opportunities Canada has in store for me.
